De Beauvoir Square
by the specified x irenie studio
Introducing In Residence from The Specified: a new series of activations that bring our collection into real interiors, moving beyond the studio to explore how contemporary Australian design lives in dialogue with architecture, history and context.
For this first presentation, we assembled a living room that layers modern craft with the richly traditional backdrop of a 1840s Grade II-listed London home. The result is a quietly expressive interior that reveals the versatility of our brands: distinct in character, yet seamlessly integrated when placed together.
Custom Sofa upholstered in Hennep Tuscan Beige by LF Fabrics, photography by Elliot Sheppard
The collection included the Agra Rug, in ginger, its deep cut pile catching the light to bring warmth and quiet elegance; and our Custom Sofa, upholstered in Tuscan Beige hemp – a modular piece that combines durability with natural tactility. Lighting came from Sozou Studio’s Large Pillow Floor Lamp, with its sculptural oak veneer frame and kozo paper shade, and the Tux Table Lamp by Volker Haug Studio, a poetic interplay of glass, brass and fibreglass.
Accents completed the scene: Hattie Molloy’s sandcast aluminium vases, their removable grates lending structure to floral arrangements; and artworks by Greg Wood, Studio Henry Wilson and Bruce Rowe, situating Australian creativity within an international context.
Together, these works create a room that is both rooted in tradition and alive with new ideas. It is an environment where craftsmanship, form and materiality converge to bring The Specified to life in a truly new way.
